{"id":144,"date":"2007-08-21T11:05:55","date_gmt":"2007-08-21T11:05:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.the-finance-zone.co.uk\/uncategorized\/labour-gets-most-cash-from-donors\/"},"modified":"2007-08-21T11:05:55","modified_gmt":"2007-08-21T11:05:55","slug":"labour-gets-most-cash-from-donors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/the-finance-zone.co.uk\/index.php\/2007\/08\/21\/labour-gets-most-cash-from-donors\/","title":{"rendered":"Labour gets most cash from donors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font size=\"2\"><strong>Donations to the Labour Party continue to outstrip those to the Conservatives, according to Electoral Commission figures for April to June.<\/strong> <\/font>The Conservatives received individual donations of \u00c2\u00a34.6m &#8211; below Labour&#8217;s \u00c2\u00a35m &#8211; but also got \u00c2\u00a31.7m of public money for policy development.<\/p>\n<p>Labour was in debt by \u00c2\u00a320.2m as of 30 June, with the Conservatives borrowing \u00c2\u00a316.3m, and Liberal Democrats \u00c2\u00a31m.<\/p>\n<p>In total 20 parties got \u00c2\u00a314m donations bringing the year&#8217;s tally to \u00c2\u00a325m. <!-- E SF --><\/p>\n<p>Labour, which does not receive public money because it is in government, was given slightly more from donors compared with the previous quarter, when it received \u00c2\u00a34.99m.<\/p>\n<p>Significant donations came from Iranian millionaire Mahmoud Khayami, who gave \u00c2\u00a3500,000, and Muslim Friends of Labour gave \u00c2\u00a3300,000.<\/p>\n<p>The party also received \u00c2\u00a3250,000 each from millionaire Jon Aisbitt, financier Ronald Cohen, a friend and confidant of prime minister Gordon Brown, and Nigel Doughty.<\/p>\n<p>A Labour spokesman said: &#8220;Our finances remain in a challenging position but the upturn of recent months continues to be reflected in the figures from the Electoral Commission.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Donations to the end of June 2007 show an increase of \u00c2\u00a33.6 million on the same stage in 2006.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Liberal Democrats received \u00c2\u00a31.3m in donations, which included at least \u00c2\u00a3500,000 from public funds.<\/p>\n<p>The UK Independence Party received \u00c2\u00a384,400, and the Scottish National Party got \u00c2\u00a3623,600<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Donations to the Labour Party continue to outstrip those to the Conservatives, according to Electoral Commission figures for April to<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"colormag_page_container_layout":"default_layout","colormag_page_sidebar_layout":"default_layout","footnotes":""},"categories":[47,48],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-144","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-treasury","category-uncategorized"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/the-finance-zone.co.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/144","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/the-finance-zone.co.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/the-finance-zone.co.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/the-finance-zone.co.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/the-finance-zone.co.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=144"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/the-finance-zone.co.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/144\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/the-finance-zone.co.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=144"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/the-finance-zone.co.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=144"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/the-finance-zone.co.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=144"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
