{"id":92,"date":"2007-04-23T11:56:24","date_gmt":"2007-04-23T11:56:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.the-finance-zone.co.uk\/uncategorized\/cheapest-towns-homes-top-100k\/"},"modified":"2007-04-23T11:56:24","modified_gmt":"2007-04-23T11:56:24","slug":"cheapest-towns-homes-top-100k","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/the-finance-zone.co.uk\/index.php\/2007\/04\/23\/cheapest-towns-homes-top-100k\/","title":{"rendered":"Cheapest town&#8217;s homes top \u00c2\u00a3100k"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><!-- S BO --><!-- S IIMA -->Every town in the UK has an average house price above \u00c2\u00a3100,000 for the first time ever, according to the Halifax.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">The town in Britain with the cheapest property is Lochgelly, Fife in Scotland, where the average home costs \u00c2\u00a3104,738. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">The average house price for the whole of the UK passed \u00c2\u00a3200,000 for the first time in February this year. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">A north-south divide has re-emerged, with London prices rising 14.9% over the past year while average prices in the north of England have risen 5.6%. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><!-- E SF --><strong><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Price boom<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">But the part of the UK recording the highest rise in average prices, over the past few years, has been Northern Ireland. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">The average house price in Northern Ireland has risen by 76% since the start of 2005. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">During the past year the growth of prices in the region has been even more startling. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">The ten towns that have seen the biggest house price rises during the last 12 months are all in Northern Ireland. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">This is the first time that all the towns in the top ten have been in the same area of the UK, the Halifax added. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Experts have said that Northern Ireland is experiencing a peace dividend and catching up on a decade worth of property price growth seen in the rest of the UK and Ireland. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Buy-to-let investors and second home buyers from Ireland have also helped push up prices. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">But with the Bank of England widely expected to increase the cost of borrowing again at its meeting in May, Halifax predicts housing market conditions will worsen a little as 2007 rolls-on. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We expect the higher level of interest rates, negative real earnings growth and above inflation council tax bill increases to lead to slower house price growth over the coming months,&#8221; Martin Ellis, Halifax chief economist said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Every town in the UK has an average house price above \u00c2\u00a3100,000 for the first time ever, according to the<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"colormag_page_container_layout":"default_layout","colormag_page_sidebar_layout":"default_layout","footnotes":""},"categories":[23,48],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-92","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-house-market","category-uncategorized"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/the-finance-zone.co.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/92","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/the-finance-zone.co.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/the-finance-zone.co.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/the-finance-zone.co.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/the-finance-zone.co.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=92"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/the-finance-zone.co.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/92\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/the-finance-zone.co.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=92"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/the-finance-zone.co.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=92"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/the-finance-zone.co.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=92"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
